Frequently
Asked Questions

We’ve put together the most common questions we get asked about MyDivorce.

If you have a question you can’t find here, please contact us directly for more information.

Is the Independent package right for me?

Independent is intended for people who feel confident handling the divorce application themselves and want a straightforward, more independent option. If you would prefer someone to check your application or provide more support, Guided or Full Support may be a better fit.

Will a solicitor review my paperwork?

No. A solicitor’s review of your completed application is not included in Independent. If you would like your application checked before submission, consider Guided or another package that includes that service.

What if I get stuck?

If you need more help than Independent provides, get in touch and we can explain your options, including whether an upgrade is available. It is best to ask before submitting anything you are unsure about.

How long does the process take?

The legal waiting periods are the same whichever package you choose. After the court issues your application, there is generally a minimum 20-week wait before you can apply for a Conditional Order, then at least six weeks and one day before the Final Order. Court processing times and individual circumstances can make the process longer.

Can I upgrade later?

You can contact us to discuss an upgrade if you find you need more support. Whether an upgrade is possible, and its cost, will depend on how far your application has progressed and what extra work is required.

Need help with
children and
finances?

A divorce legally ends your marriage, but it doesn’t automatically
resolve arrangements for children, property, pensions or finances.

If you’re unsure about child arrangements, financial settlements or protecting
your future interests, our experienced family law solicitors can help.

Whether you need straightforward advice or ongoing legal support, we’ll
guide you through your options and help you make informed decisions
for you and your family.
